WANTAGE -- An 18-year-old young man whose life was tragically cut short by a car accident last week is being remembered for the lives he touched in life and through those saved by his organs in death.

James Fischer, a lifelong resident of Wantage, died Friday at Morristown Medical Center as the result of injuries sustained March 22 in a single-vehicle accident on Deckertown Turnpike.

Fischer, who was traveling alone, was eastbound when he lost control of his vehicle shortly after 9 p.m. and struck a tree. The cause of the accident remains under investigation, according to the New Jersey State Police.

Fischer, who had been studying journalism at Sussex County Community College, will be remembered Saturday at a memorial service at 6 p.m. at the Lafayette Federated Church.

The N.J. Sharing Network, in a tribute to him, said the "memory of James Fischer will live on in the lives he has touched as an organ donor." Continue reading
