HAPPY: Peter Repton and his wife Denise 20 years on from his life saving kidney transplant.
A MAN who underwent a lifesaving kidney transplant 20 years ago is urging people to become organ donors.

Peter Repton, 59, of Bottesford, underwent a kidney transplant in 1997 after enduring three-and-a-half years of dialysis three times a week when he inherited the same kidney disease that killed his grandmother and mother.

He said that had he not received the transplant, he wouldn't have been able to meet and watch his grandchildren grow up or go on the Caribbean cruise he and his wife, 60-year-old Denise, have just been on to celebrate their 41st wedding anniversary.

He also said that he would have missed out on the "joy" of watching his children get married.

He said that his kidney – affectionately known as Sidney – is still going strong.

"I want to get the message out there that there is life after dialysis," he said. Continue reading
