The 20-year-old from Dubbo, New South Wales, was born with cystic fibrosis and has endured countless medications, daily physiotherapy and numerous hospital visits.
But now the young woman's situation has become a matter of life or death.
The condition has taken its toll on her body and she desperately needs a double lung transplant to survive.
Katelin's body has now reached its breaking point. Her lungs are absorbing too much carbon dioxide and not enough oxygen.
Because of this, she has been in intensive care for a week, and was given the news last week that a transplant was her only hope.
'Last Wednesday we got the news that Katelin either needed a double lung transplant or to go into palliative care,' Katelin's older sister, Jessica Thompson, told Daily Mail Australia. Continue reading
