Phase 2 of Ecclesiastical’s Movement for Good awards is open for entries from charities until 6 August.

Charities can apply for a share, with grants of £10,000, £50,000 or £100,000 to be awarded. 30 grants of £10,000 are available, while two winners of grants will receive an additional £50,000 grant and one will receive an additional £100,000 grant.

Ecclesiastical wants this phase of its Movement for Good awards to go to charities supporting specific themes:

  • Education and skills – projects that enable learning and development, in particular among young people
  • Rural or community development – projects that support and build communities particularly in rural areas
  • Arts, culture or heritage – projects that help celebrate, preserve or protect our heritage and culture
  • Climate change or environment – projects that contribute to tackling impact on the climate and environment
  • Human rights or equality – projects that further a more inclusive and equal world for everyone

Ecclesiastical recently announced the recipients of phase 1 of this year’s Movement for Good awards. Overall, it is giving £1m to charities, and phase 1 saw 500 charities awarded £1,000 each, following public nominations.

In total, more than 210,000 people around the UK supported the awards, with over 13,000 charitable causes up and down the country receiving votes. The 500 winning charities were picked at random from those nominated.

Health causes topped the list with the most nominations, while community and animal and wildlife charities were also front of mind as popular choices, with the Good Grief Trust, Berkshire Autistic Society and Wessex Children’s Hospice Trust among the recipients.
