HARKER HEIGHTS, Texas (KWTX) After three months, two open heart surgeries, and countless other procedures, a Harker Heights family welcomes home their five month old son. His life was saved by organ donation.
Brayden McCann was born on February 14th, and when he was six weeks old, his mother, Alyssa, noticed health complications with her son. He was vomiting, breathing heavily, and she noticed that he was not gaining weight.
Following several trips to the hospital, doctors diagnosed Brayden with several heart defects. They said there was a hole in his heart, it was not pumping properly, and the left heart chamber was enlarged.
The doctors said Brayden would need a heart transplant.
On April 6th, he was life-lighted to the Texas Children’s Hospital in Houston where he was placed at the top of the transplant list. Continue reading
