For eight seasons, athletes nationwide have attempted to complete the reason-defying obstacle courses on NBC’s American Ninja Warrior. Among those taking on the famously infamous Mount Midoriyama on Monday’s Season 8 finale: Northeastern University’s Josh Levin.
Levin, a rising senior, earned his spot in the finale after successfully completing two qualifying rounds. Now, he’ll compete for the show’s top prize: a $1 million payout.
Walking away a millionaire won’t be easy, though.
The Mount Midoriyama course — American Ninja Warrior‘s toughest — is divided into four stages with 22 obstacles in total, each tougher than the next. Only those who can make it through all obstacles unscathed can stake a claim on the million-dollar check.
And according to Levin, the obstacles are much harder than they look on TV.
“When you’re at home watching the show on TV, it’s easy to think to yourself, ‘Oh, that looks easy! I could totally do that,’” he says. “But I had a feeling that it would be much more difficult than most competitors make it appear, so I gave it the benefit of the doubt and made sure to take each obstacle seriously.” Continue reading
