Call it a menage a trois, but one with a heartwarming story.
The three-way love affair featured in Rick Steber's newest book, "Three Little Birds: A True Story of Hope," is a real-life story involving George and Donna Hooker, now 69 and 68, and an unlikely third partner, a Canada goose they named Tootie.
The tale of the Hookers, who live near Bly Mountain, and Tootie began May 9, 1999. While driving home, Donna saw a coyote killing a Canada honker. She arrived too late to save the mother goose, but found an unhatched egg that she took home.
To keep it warm, George held it against his chest until, a day later, it hatched. The experience gave George, who was suffering from cardiomyopathy, a life-threatening heart disease, new reason and a renewed will to survive. Continue reading, cute photos of Tootie and George!
