An 11-year-old boy who was on the kidney transplant waiting list almost his whole life has finally received an organ from a stranger who heard about his plight on social media.
Matthew Pietrzyk had none of his kidneys and was constantly on dialysis, taking 18 tablets a day just to stay alive.
After eight years on the UK transplant waiting list, Matthew received a donation from Edward Batch, 39, from Leicestershire.
"I don't know if it is as easy as this so excuse my ignorance but I have a spare kidney if it helps; I'm more than willing to donate to a good cause," Batch wrote on social media. Continue reading
