I HAVE a confession to make: I have never been an organ donor. And while I felt some guilt about that over the years, I buried it deep and tried not to think about the ramifications my selfishness would have for anyone desperately needing an organ donation.
For some illogical reason I’ve always thought I wouldn’t want my lifeless body messed with, that I’d want it to be buried “intact” and complete.
But what was I thinking? A lifeless body is already incomplete because it’s lacking life — except if you think of the possibility of giving life, and living on — in no small way — through organ donation. Continue reading
