WALNUT >> When Los Angeles County Sheriff’s detective Lyle Raymond first found out he needed a kidney transplant, he and his wife went into denial.
It could take seven to 10 years to get a kidney transplant on a waiting list. Until then, he would have to go through dialysis on a daily basis.
Raymond continued to get treatment. His wife went to work.
It wasn’t until a nurse friend spoke to Raymond’s wife, Mary Christine, and told her she needed to be an advocate that things changed.
Little did they know that being an advocate would end in the discovery that Mary would end up as a donor match for her husband of 21 years. Continue reading
