A boy with a joyful smile, rambunctious spirit and a love of wearing boots that were too big for him has died after being struck by a vehicle.

Logan Beltran, 2, was hit by a car driven by a family member in the 5500 block of Pearl Street about noon Nov. 14, Nueces County Sheriff's Capt. Daniel Lorberau said. He is the youngest son of Selina and Joe Beltran of Banquete.

"(Logan) loved everybody and everybody loved him," Joe Beltran told the Caller-Times. "From my older son's teammates and friends at school to the people who he came in contact with. He had a joyful smile, a rambunctious, menacing attitude. He was polite, loving, wild and a daredevil."

The toddler, the youngest of the Beltrans' four children, was rushed to Driscoll Children's Hospital in Corpus Christi but the damage to his brain was irreversible, Beltran said. He was kept on life support for a couple days while patients in need of organ transplants were found to receive his heart, heart valves and kidneys. Continue reading
