An Orange County man was sentenced to a year in jail in the fatal crash that killed Travis Marton, a Valencia High grad, on New year’s Day in 2015.

The jury found Oct. 25 that Aviles unlawfully failed to stop his vehicle and failed to render assistance to the injured victim after the 2015 collision. Marton was pronounced dead at the scene.
Aviles was facing a maximum of four years in state prison, but the judge instead sentenced Aviles to one year in county jail and three years of formal probation.
In court, Marton’s family gave emotional victim impact statements before the judge describing how Aviles deprived Marton of a dying wish — to give his organs to save another life. Continue reading ___________________________________________________________________
