HAZARD, Ky. (WYMT) - One Perry County woman is a step closer to returning home, after moving to Florida in hopes of receiving an organ transplant.
In August, Krystal Combs moved to Miami to be closer to her doctors.
Wednesday morning, doctors called to tell her organs were waiting for her. She went into surgery in the early hours of Thursday.
Doctors completely replaced her smaller intestine and part of her larger intestine. They tell Combs, she's recovering quickly.
"As of now, they said I was doing really well," said Combs. "He's hoping to send me back to Kentucky in six months, but it could be up to a year," she told WYMT Sunday. Continue reading
