患者救うことが最期の望み…男性医師が臓器提供

日本臓器移植ネットワークは２３日、山口県周南市の徳山中央病院に入院していた２０歳代男性が法律に基づく脳死と判定され、臓器摘出が行われたと発表した。

　男性は医師で、臓器提供の意思表示カードを携帯。家族は臓器提供で患者を救うことが、男性の最期の望みと考えて決断したという。

　発表によると、男性は頭部外傷で入院しており、家族は２１日に提供に同意した。心臓、肺、肝臓、腎臓などが移植される。

　家族が発表したコメントは以下の通り。

　本人は、「苦しむ人々を楽にしてあげたい」という思いで、日々医師として勤務しており、臓器提供については口頭と書面でその意思を残していました。

　もう本人の手で誰かを助けることはできませんが、最後に臓器提供という形で誰かを助けることが本人の最期の望みであり、それをかなえてあげたいと家族全員で臓器の提供を決断しました。移植を受けた方々が少しでも長く、元気で幸せに過ごされることを願っています。Continue reading

A physician in his 20s who became brain dead because of head trauma donates the heart, both lungs, liver, pancreas and both kidneys saving five lives. 

The family announces a statement saying he was a doctor who wished to ease the pain of others and although he cannot do so now, our family has made the decision to fulfill his wish to donate his organs.
