Christmas time is special season for a Fairbury couple, Dave and Donna Hunt, as the holidays mark 25 years of marriage and 25 years of life because of a gift they both received.

FAIRBURY, Neb. - Christmas time is special season for a Fairbury couple, as the holidays mark 25 years of marriage and 25 years of life because of a gift they both received.

There wasn’t exactly love at first sight for the couple.

“We went dancing,” Dave Hunt said.

“And it took 2 1/2 weeks for him to call me,” Donna Hunt said.

Diabetes had taken both David and Donna Hunt’s eyesight when they were in their early 20s They met at a National Federation of the Blind Convention through mutual friends.

“We both had said we are never getting married. Just that wasn't going to happen, and of course, I fell head over heals for her,” Dave said.

Dave’s personality and humor made Donna laugh, and the songs he wrote for her won her over. Continue reading
