CINCINNATI - A Kentucky woman is grateful for the gift of life this holiday season. Alisha Stamper, 32, owes her life to Cincinnati native Blake Adkins, who died of a brain aneurysm in 2013.

This Christmas season, Stamper met with the family of the man who saved her life.

Christmas is a time of reflection for Stamper. It's been nearly two years since she was gifted with Adkins' heart. At that time, she had just a week to live.

"It was a week before Christmas of 2013, and they couldn't get (my heart) to go to normal rhythm. The heart was done," Stamper said.

In the years leading up to that Christmas, Stamper said she struggled for years. She traveled from Louisville to Cincinnati Children’s Hospital monthly to keep her heart working. Continue reading
