Edinburg, TX— Doctors Hospital at Renaissance (DHR) and Texas Organ Sharing Alliance (TOSA) will be hosting an organ donor drive on Friday, November 11, 2016, in honor of National Donor Sabbath. The three-day observance is a time for people of all religions to honor those who have given the precious gift of organ, eye and tissue donation. The observance aims to join faith leaders across the country to discuss the gift of life via organ donation. This is an important time to educate our community about the need for organ donors and to inspire individuals to register and discuss their decision with their families.

Over 120,000 people in the United States are on the organ transplant waiting list, many of which will never receive the life-saving organs they need. Organ transplants in the United States reached an all-time high in 2015, with over 30,000 procedures performed. Even with this great accomplishment, there is still a pressing need for more organ donors. In an effort to increase the number of local registered organ donors, DHR is proud to participate in National Donor Sabbath and to honor the many who have given the gift of life. Continue reading
