Despite a somber diagnosis of Stage 4 kidney failure, Rep. Phil Shepard said he feels good and hopes to bring awareness to organ donation through his journey.
In a recent Facebook post, Shepard shared the news he’d been placed on a transplant list following his diagnosis. He also provided information about donating a kidney to him for anyone who was interested.
“… I feel a little unusual about asking someone else for a donation, to be a burden to someone else,” Shepard, who is a pastor at Light House Baptist Church, said.
Although Shepard said he’s been experiencing some kidney problems since last year, it wasn’t until six months ago, the diagnosis came. Others who have successfully undergone kidney transplants have inspired him, Shepard said.
“I hope that I can do the same thing to bring awareness to other people of the importance of organ donation,” Shepard said. Continue reading
