Two years after her death, organ donor still giving

The last thing Mary Daniel’s sister ever said to her was, “Happy Birthday.” A few short days later, she would see her sister, Ellen Levesque, alive one last time. It is not, however, the last time she has felt the presence of her sister’s spirit. Through one final act of giving, Levesque made sure she would live on through others. And Daniel is positive her sister is still with her, two years after her death.

Levesque was 45 when, on a Tuesday night, Dec. 9, 2014 around 5 p.m., she fell into a diabetic coma and was hospitalized. Four days later, on Dec. 13, she died.

Daniel, a fitness instructor at Worcester Fitness, was at work when she took the call from the hospital that her sister had been hospitalized.

“I left the gym and came here,” she said of rushing to her sister’s side at UMass Memorial Medical Center. Continue reading
