MT. JULIET, Tenn. (WKRN) – The second annual Maddie’s Dash, a 5K and fun run named after a Mt. Juliet toddler, will be held Saturday in Lebanon.

The first event was held last October for the family of Maddie Whitlock, who received a life-saving liver transplant a year ago.

With a goal of $50,000, expectations were surpassed and more than $70,000 was raised.

This year, Maddie’s family is giving back.

The event is still named after Maddie Whitlock, but the proceeds will benefit another local patient awaiting an organ transplant.

“It was such a huge blessing for us when people helped us. The last thing you want to think about when you have a sick child is money,” said Maddie’s mother, Michelle Whitlock. “We wanted to do the same for another family.” Continue reading

  1. After the patient is discharged from the hospital receiving a liver transplant, it is very important for them to take certain precautions for having a healthy and infection-free life after the liver transplant.
