Nike has raised $6.75m (£5.52m) so far for The Michael J Fox Foundation with an auction and draw of its 2016 Nike Mag boots.
Nike and The Michael J. Fox Foundation announced the release of the 2016 Nike Mag in early October: a limited-edition release of 89 pairs available globally through an online draw.
The Nike Mag has an individually responsive system, called Adaptive Fit that senses the wearer and tightens or loosens accordingly like the ones worn by Fox in 1985’s Back to the Future.
The majority of the 89 pairs were be available to residents of the United States and Canada through a digital draw, with each entry granting equal opportunity to win a pair of the Nike Mag. Tickets were $10 donations to The Michael J. Fox Foundation.
One pair of the Nike Mag was also auctioned live in Hong Kong on 11th October and London on 14th October with a third pair due to be auctioned in New York on 12th November at The Michael J. Fox Foundation’s benefit gala, “A Funny Thing Happened on the Way to Cure Parkinson’s.” One further pair was available in a public draw, with entry exclusively at Nike Town London on 15th-16th October.
All proceeds go to The Michael J Fox Foundation, founded by Michael J Fox in 2000.
