OELWEIN (KWWL) - Recovering from and organ transplant takes a physical and emotional toll, but two Oelwein patients are recovering together at Mercy Hospital.

Since 1988, less than 130 Iowans have undergone lung transplants.

This year, two Wheaton Franciscan Healthcare patients form a friendship from their former hardship.

It's the quiet sound or rehabilitation for Pamela J. Haun and Josh Voshell, as they walk through their double-lung transplant recovery together.

"It's wonderful just to have someone to talk to, who has been exactly through the same thing. We just carry the same lingo and language. It's just been awesome," Pamela said.

Pam had her double-lung transplant after years of suffering from chronic obstructive pulmonary disease. Continue reading
