The seven-year-old will now receive an order of St John organ donation award


The mother of seven-year-old Fraser Bates, who died after being hit by a car, has revealed his heart has been donated to a baby and other organs have helped save more lives.

Fraser died of his injuries at the Bristol Children’s Hospital following a collision with an Alfa Romeo car on December 6, which also claimed the life of his dad Stuart, 43.

Wife and mother Anna-Louise Bates decided to donate Fraser’s organs and has revealed his heart was donated to a baby, his lungs to a child, and his liver and a kidneys to another child while another kidney will help someone awaiting a transplant.

She added his eyes will also save and change lives.

As she faces the funeral of her beloved “bears” on Saturday she has received the news that Fraser will receive an order of St John organ donation award.

The award is given to families of those whose organs have been donated and the chief executive of St John Cymru, Keith Dunn, confirmed Fraser's award will be presented next year. Continue reading
