Brynn Lewis runs around like any other child her age — an amazing miracle for her parents, Amy and Scott Lewis.
That's because Brynn, 6, of White Oak has had two heart transplants: one after she was born and another in 2013. Those transplants from two organ donors are the only reason Brynn is alive.
"We always think about those other two children and their families," Amy Lewis said of the donors. "We'd like to meet them, let them meet Brynn. It's just something we think about every day, about what a miracle it is. I'll put my hand on her chest and think that's somebody else's heart. It's mind-blowing."
The Lewis family was part of a gathering Thursday morning at Longview Regional Medical Center as Donate Life Texas and NASCAR driver Joey Gase were on hand to talk about organ donation and how it can save lives. Continue reading
