Two-year-old Nora Dolan refuses to put down her specially-made 'baby Henry' doll while her little brother remains hooked up to tubes in hospital

With love in her eyes, Nora Dolan tenderly places a kiss on her favourite doll’s forehead, ignoring the tubes, bandages and scars on its body.

For the two-year-old, this is the closest she will come, at the moment, to cradling her baby brother, who has just undergone a heart transplant.

Nora has never been able to properly hug her beloved younger sibling, Henry, after he was born with two serious heart conditions six months ago.

Instead, she carries a specially-made doll version of him everywhere she goes, often stopping to cuddle, kiss or speak to her ‘baby Henry’.

Like the seriously ill little boy, the doll has tubes attached to its nose and mouth, a wire fixed to its chest, and even a scar over its heart. Continue reading
