Logan Regional Hospital has a new award to add to its collection of honors, this time for being the best hospital in Utah for performing potential tissue donations.

Intermountain Donor Services, a federally designated organization handling organ and tissue donation services for Utah, southeastern Idaho, western Wyoming and Elko, Nevada, presented Logan Regional Hospital with an award for their successful tissue donation rate within Utah, performing tissue recovery operations on 62 percent of eligible patients.

“We’ve always collaborated closely with Intermountain Donor Services, and we’ve received ongoing training from them on identifying possible donors and working together with donor families,” said Logan Regional Nurse Administrator Neil Perkes. “Whenever we have a case of tissue or organ donation, we know it’s a very sensitive time for grieving families. We’re grateful for the nurses and social workers who are involved in the process and also for the generosity of the families and their loved ones.” Continue reading
