Even after death, Maypearl grad and U.S. Marine continues his legacy of giving

MIDLOTHIAN — Family members describe Payton McCarty’s life with a single word — giving. McCarty served his country as U.S. Marine but also found ways help others in need daily.

His attitude of giving continued after death.

In his final act of giving, it is McCarty’s kidney that has given Dallas Police Officer Bryson Brown a second chance at life.

“My son is a Dallas Policeman, and he has a friend, Bryson Brown, that is also a policeman who was on the donor list needing an organ. So he mentioned to my daughter, Brittany, when we knew Payton was not going to make it to my daughter that Bryson needed a kidney,” McCarty’s mother-in-law, Kim Forner-Mabey said. “Ended up they looked at him and he was a perfect match, which never happens. So all four of the organ transplant nurses came in to tell my daughter together because they said it never happens to be that someone who you want to have the organ is a perfect match, and he was. He received the organ on Nov. 4, the day that Payton Passed away.” Continue reading
